A friend I trust said “Maybe there’s a good reason why there’s no poetry radio station on air.” I smiled. And, if I may paraphrase something from Don Marquis: Publishing poetry is like dropping a feather into the Grand Canyon and waiting to hear it hit. Well, I enjoy a challenge and I enjoy poetry. As a career audio technician I especially enjoy hearing poetry done well. If it weren’t for recording poetry at the Center for Contemporary Arts in Santa Fe, back in 2003, and getting good reviews from listeners, and having a wonderful experience with the recording talent that stepped up to the microphone, I too might blanch at the idea–a 24⁄7 poetry broadcast.
